Internship - Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Purecontrol develops intelligent control solutions for manufacturers, especially in the methanization sector. This biological process makes it possible to produce energy (biogas) from organic materials (inputs).

One of the major challenges for our customers is to be able to anticipate the quantity of gas produced according to what they introduce into the digester (the “recipe”) and operating conditions (temperature, pH, etc.). Currently, basic models struggle to capture the variations associated with changes in inputs.

The objective of this internship is to develop a predictive model capable of estimating future gas production based on inputs. The aim is to determine, through data analysis, which combination or “recipe” maximizes performance or stabilizes the process.

Integrated into a technical team and accompanied by a tutor, your missions will be:

● Familiarization and exploration of data: Analyze historical site data (quantities of inputs, biogas flow, physicochemical parameters) to understand existing correlations.

● Predictive modeling: Test and compare different modeling approaches (regressions, temporal models, etc.) to predict the average production expected at different horizons according to material inputs.

● Hybrid Data/Business approach: Make the link between statistical results and field reality. You will have to collaborate with project managers to find the right compromise between purely data-based modeling and the integration of business rules (digestion kinetics, physical constraints).

● Performance evaluation: Define the relevant metrics (mean error, standard deviation) to judge the quality of the prediction and the robustness of the model in the face of regime changes.

The intern will be integrated into a small multidisciplinary team composed of AI engineers, energy and industrial systems specialists. He or she will be accompanied by a tutor or a referent tutor, who will supervise the development of skills and the progress of the project.

We are looking for an engineering student (4th year level, Bac+4) for an internship of about 3 months, with a profile oriented towards Applied Mathematics or Data Analysis. You must have a strong interest in machine learning technologies and

their application in complex industrial contexts, as well as a desire to learn and actively contribute to innovative projects.

The skills and qualities sought are:

- basic knowledge in statistics and mathematics,

- some experience with machine learning libraries like scikit-learn or Tensorflow/Pytorch/JAX,

- the ability to conceptualize concrete problems into modeling problems and to propose appropriate solutions,

- intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn new technologies and techniques,

- good communication skills, both oral and written, in French and, ideally, in English.

We are mainly interested in candidates with backgrounds in computer science, applied mathematics or engineering, but remain open to other profiles with a strong interest in predictive modeling and energy optimization.
